Eight360

Eight360 is a Wellington-based virtual reality hardware company that has spent years developing NOVA, a world-unique motion simulation platform. Unlike conventional simulators, NOVA is a completely untethered sphere capable of full rolls, flips, and spins, delivering motion sensations that match what users see in a VR headset. The New Zealand Defence Force was Eight360's first customer, using NOVA to train personnel for vehicle and amphibious operations, and the relationship has since expanded to Australian and US defence markets. Beyond defence, NOVA is being adopted by universities for research into vehicle training, human interface design, psychology experiments, and aerospace engineering. Eight360 stands out in the NZ XR ecosystem as a genuine hardware innovator, engineering physical simulation technology rather than software or content alone.
