Atuatanga is Aotearoa's first full-length virtual reality game told in te reo Māori, guiding players through a Māori world view as they journey to reawaken the Atua and restore balance to a decimated Papatūānuku. Built in Unreal Engine for Meta Quest with hand tracking and 6 degrees of freedom, it was directed and written by Wiremu Grace, produced by Wellington studio Useful Media with lead development by Wildeye Interactive, and supported by the NZ Film Commission and Manatū Taonga Cultural Sector Innovation Fund. It has screened at Māoriland, Doc Edge, Techweek, and the imagiNATIVE Film Festival.
